The renewable energy sector in Nigeria is witnessing a major transformation, driven by the removal of fuel subsidies and the increasing cost of energy tariff. As businesses and households seek more cost-effective alternatives, solar energy—particularly solar-plus-storage solutions—is emerging as a clear winner.

According to the Africa Solar Industry Association (AFSIA) Africa Solar Outlook 2025 report, Nigeria has made remarkable progress in solar adoption, ranking as the fourth African country in installed solar capacity. In 2024 alone, the country added 63.5 megawatts peak (MWp), marking a significant leap forward.

The report highlights that Nigeria achieved the second-biggest improvement among African countries, climbing 12 places in the rankings. This growth is fueled by increased investment in solar solutions across the commercial and industrial (C&I), residential, and mini-grid segments.

As a company dedicated to renewable and clean energy, we are excited to see Nigeria’s growing commitment to sustainability. The transition to solar is not just about affordability—it’s about long-term energy security, reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and a cleaner environment for future generations.

“This positive move is supported by increasing investment in solar from the C&I, residential and mini-grid segments. This performance is particularly impressive as the country produces a lot more power than many other African nations,” the report stated

The momentum is here. The future is solar.
